Mixed Media
These mixed media images combine acrylic paint, colored pencil and graphite pencil. I try to utilize the qualities of each medium: the solid and sometimes transparent paint, the whispyness and preciseness of pencil.
The qualities of the medium translate into the atmosphere and mood of the finished image. The composition is enhanced by the medium as well, the solid paint in the foreground pulls the foreground toward the viewer, the softness of colored pencil pushes the background further away, and the detail of pencil work in the middle unifies the visual effect of depth.
